Municipal Post Graduate College, Mussoorie is a Private Aided College of The State of Uttarakhand which is recognized by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi under sections 2(f) and 12(b) of the U.G.C. Act 1956. At present, the College is affiliated to the H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar, Garhwal (A Central University).  The College is run by a Managing Committee which is chaired by the Chairman, who is also the Chairman of the City Board (Municipality) of the Mussoorie town (Nagar Palika Parishad, Mussoorie). Herein lies the genesis of the name of the College, viz. the Municipal Post Graduate College, Mussoorie.  It is the only higher educational institution of the State of Uttarakhand which is being run by a locally elected Municipal Body (Local Self Government).  More about the College can be read in the section ‘The College’ of this website.
